The Alabama BBQ Association was formed in 2006 as an Alabama non-profit corporation to educate the public about the art of outdoor cooking and oversee the Alabama Team of the Year awards, which are bestowed upon the ABA members with the highest category points on the ABA Cook Trail, consisting of sanctioned competitions throughout Alabama and surrounding states. 

 

We not only promote events but also attract tourism to the South and to each of the host cities.
 

Additionally, the ABA operates solely on donations; sponsorships; and membership fees from individuals, families, and cook teams.  It receives no city, county, state or federal funding.  The ABA has no paid employees.  All officers are volunteers because outdoor cooking is our passion, and we want to give back to the sport.
